Airsoft is a fun activity that the whole family can enjoy. Sure, there are some folks out there that are really serious about it but the truth of the matter is that if it’s done safely, and with the right equipment, it can be a light-hearted activity that everyone can have fun with. Choosing the right equipment is key.
Airsoft Safety Accessories: First, everyone should be properly fitted with full eye/face protection. You can get a decent Airsoft Mesh Mask for between $14 and $20 or a Deluxe Mask for between $17 and $25 that covers the face and most of the head. It is really important that whatever mask is used fully covers the eyes, mouth and fleshy part of the face. Protective Vests are available for $15 and up but are probably not needed if you’re using entry-level Airsoft Spring Pistols or Airsoft Spring Rifles and even with lower-powered Airsoft Electric Pistols or Airsoft Electric Rifles. In most cases, a good thick couples dancing roller skates shirts should be enough.
Airsoft Spring Pistols : One of the great things about Airsoft is that the whole family can get into it with a fairly small investment. You can get a decent Airsoft Spring Pistol for less than $10.00. CYMA offers a two-gun set in a plastic carrying case for less that $10.00. An Airsoft Spring Pistol must be cocked before each shot but with most guns this can be done quickly and without much effort. The speed of the BBs is measured in feet per second or FPS. If the Airsoft Spring Pistol that you are looking at shoots at less than 230 FPS you can expect that taking a hit from 20 feet or more should not “leave a mark”.
Airsoft Spring Rifles: A decent Airsoft Spring Rifle will cost a little more but there are many options for less than $25. Like the Airsoft Spring Pistol, the Airsoft Spring Rifle must be cocked before each shot but again, this is seldom very difficult to do. If your looking to keep it fun and avoid the bruises look for a Rifle that shoots at less than 230 FPS.
Airsoft Electric Pistols: Airsoft Electric Pistols are more expensive than the Spring versions but there are still many options available for less that $20. The Airsoft Electric Pistols are battery powered and usually fully automatic. As you would expect many of these guns shoot hard and fast but you’ll still find many under that 230 FPS. There is no pumping or cocking with an Airsoft Electric Pistols-you just aim and shoot.
Airsoft Electric Rifles: Like their Pistol counter part, Airsoft Electric Rifles are more expensive than the Spring versions and you should expect to pay between $30 and $40 for a decent entry level Rifle. Just like the Electric Pistols, with the Airsoft Electric Rifles you just aim and shoot and watch those BBs fly.
Ammunition: It’s important and well worth the small price difference to use seamless Airsoft BBs. You will have far fewer gun problems and breaks in the action. If you’re concerned about those little plastic BBs laying around the backyard forever, try the Biodegradable Airsoft BBs.
Bottom-line, Airsoft battles can be fun for the whole family.
