Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris on the 15th of April 1990. She first starred in the Harry Potter movie when she was just nine years old. She had no movie acting experience till then and had only acted in a few school dramas.
From the year 2001 to 2007 she has starred in five Harry Potter films and each of them was a box office hit. She is due to act in two more Harry Potter films — Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows in 2009, and another Harry Potter film in which she has acted in due for release this year. This has won her several awards and over ten million pounds. She has also acted in non-Potter films. A television production called Ballet Shoes had her in the lead role.
She was discovered by casting agents when her Oxford theater teacher informed them about her. Immediately she was taken for audition tests and Rowling who is the creator of the Potter magic was very much pleased with her throughout. After seven auditions it was declared to her that she had been selected to play the lead role.
She was first selected to act in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. All newspapers carried admiring reviews about her acting including the Daily Telegraph. She won the Young Artist Award for the leading young actress. In all her subsequent films, critics were very appreciative about her acting. They marveled her acting as being charismatic. Although other Harry Potter stars confirmed about their willingness to continue acting, she said she was not yet decided about her future.
After moving to Oxford with her mother and brother Emma Watson attended preparatory school and then a school for girls. She was tutored for about five hours a day on the sets of Harry Potter. Despite all her movie commitments she was doing wonderfully in her academics also.
She has expressed her willingness to go to a university after her film Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows to study English. There are rumors doing the rounds that she has already secured a seat in Trinity College. She agrees that she does not have to work for money anymore having amassed a massive ten million pounds already. She says she is perfectly happy with her friends, family and all her colleagues. When asked about her other interests she replied that she had interest in singing, dancing, field hockey, tennis art, and fishing. She has donated a handsome amount to the wild trout trust. She is also very fashion conscious. She considers fashion something that is similar to art.
Emma Watson surely has come a long way from being a child actor to a mature person now. She has other interests in life other than acting and she would like to pursue her academic interests too. Whatever way this young star selects it is in doubt that it is roses all the way for her.
